Castles and Palaces

Today, we went exploring castles and palaces and my Reign feels went wild!

We started off the morning at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, which is still a royal residence used by Queen Elizabeth II for a week every summer. It was a beautiful palace, accompanied by the ruins of an abbey. I was especially happy because Mary Queen of Scots lived in the palace from 1561 to 1567. My heart ached hearing about the heartbreak she endured while living here.

We had a delicious lunch in the palace cafe after our tour. Hannah's children's meal was adorable.

Afterwards, we walked to the other end of the Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle, which was also lived in by Mary Queen of Scots. It was huge and honestly quite overwhelming.

On our walk back, we had to stop into Starbucks to warm up....

We're busy packing up to head to London tomorrow. By this time tomorrow night, I will have seen Les Mis for the 5th time...xx
